The Work Has Begun

Our first day of renovations was quite a success. I didn't expect to see so much change. Admittedly, I am fairly new to renovations and a little out of practice since we worked on our house 11 years ago. The three oldest kids (of four, total) jumped in and began pulling up layers of flooring. There were two layers of flooring in every room, to be exact. Carpet was atop some wildly amazing vinyl flooring. And, underneath the layers we found the hardwood floor which should serve us well.

I have a shopping list to fill and then we can get back to work. Soon, we'll be trimming the overgrown hedges. That will be so satisfying!

These are the kinds of projects I love to see my kids tackle (as homeschoolers and as people) because it's practical work with real life rewards. And, those rewards are going to come as delayed gratification.

I was behind the camera, but I was also pulling up flooring and nails and staples and such.
